Barbarian Invasions of Rome DBA
by Nora Palmer, Jul. 11th

Greetings from the sites of two great battles:

Saturday, June 28th, 2003 (at Game Parlor Chantilly) and Sunday, June 29th, 2003 (at Game Parlor Woodbridge) were two days of great bloodshed in fierce battle waged between the Roman Army and the Barbarian Warriors.

Saturday's event was an overwhelming Roman victory (10-2). Wayne Hansen started the first battle with his familiar warcry, "For The Empire!"

The battle on Sunday was a Roman bloodbath, with the Barbarians scoring an impressive win (9-1).

It is interesting to not that when added together, the two-day total reveals a tie. If we had all gathered at one battlefield, I wonder what the final outcome would have been.

The Battle Standards each have a permanent new ribbon (one for each day's combat).

This year's turnout was small, but the wargaming was first rate and everyone had a great time. Our combatants were: Peter Caton, Gary Fortenberry, Kon Gojnycz, Wayne Hansen, John Pieper, Mark Pozniak, Matt Torres, Rob Torres, Rob Weigend, and Scott (sorry, I missed your last name).

Thanks to all players (who make every event a great time.) Thanks to Rob and Cindy Weigend; Game Parlor is always a great place to play. Special thanks to John Pieper. He sets up all of the computer scorekeeping, teaches me to use it (a monumental task), takes me shopping for lunch, keeps me sane, and fills in when I need an extra player.

    Till next time.

A Month to Remember for Classic Battletech
by Buster McCall, Jun. 10th

What a month of Classic Battletech! Lawyers, Guns, and Money, Classic BattleTech Spring Bash, and countless pick up games. Classic BattleTech is definitely alive and well. For those who haven't heard, Carl Lucas won top honors in the Classic BattleTech Spring Bash 2003. Fielding a Lyran Alliance force, Carl systematically battered his opponents with withering long-range firepower and Arrow IV/TAG teams. Ben Klinefelter annihilated his second and third opponents to seize second place while Brandon Clark and Matt Oxford took home third and fourth place, respectively.

Special thanks to Jimmy Livingston who donated two points of painted Clan Elementals as part of the prize support.

Be on the look out for new Classic BattleTech miniatures soon to be available in your local Game Parlor...note the Saladin. Pause to wipe drool from mouth.

Now get some gear and throw down!

Invasion of Scheat
by Matt McMahon, May 22nd

Thursday, May 22nd saw the forces of the Dragon's Fury clash with the local militia for possession of the capital city of Scheat. Facing overwhelming odds of three to one the defenders dug in to await the leading units of the invaders. During an intense artillery assault to soften up these defenses, Fedrick Bo bravely charged into the city only to have his mech salvaged by a withering barrage of combined fire. At the same time across town, the leading Centurion mech of the invaders was completely destroyed by a lance of Spirit Cat mechs that had answered the call to defend Scheat.

Due to the brave resistance of the militia, the planetary governer was able to evacuate the city in time. His limo met up with the Republic forces sent to reinforce the Scheat militia. Faced with fighting these combined forces, the invading Dragon's Fury army conceded defeat.
